Our Trip

Day 1
We flew into KEF international airport landing at 1100 and met Campeasy, that took us to collect our van for the trip. We then proceeded to the closest Bonus supermarket to stock up on the supplies for the trip. Now fully stocked up we started the the longest leg of the trip, from Keflavik to our first camp ground in Skaftafell.

Day 2
Waking up about 0530 we start off to Stokksness to catch the sunrise over the beach lighting Vestrahorn mountains. You’ll need to purchase a pass from the Viking cafe next to the barrier at the top of the road. Next we visited the Viking village that was created as a prop for a movie, we then pop back to the Viking cafe for a bite to eat and coffee whilst we planned the next stop, back the way we came to Hoffell Glacial lake. Our final stop was Jökulsárlón Glacier lake and Diamond beach to see the chunks of glacier floating out to sea and washing onto the sea shore.

Day 3
Today we were hiking the glacier and visited an ice cave. Drove to Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon walking to the top to get the full view of the canyon. then headed to Reynisfjara Beach (Black sand beach) via the Reyniskirkja Church in Vik, then onto our camp ground at Hamragarðar Campground.

Day 4
We drove from the campground to view the sunrise at Skogafoss waterfall, there are steps to the top to the right of the waterfall. The its back to Seljalandsfoss and Gljúfrabúi waterfalls. Due to the in coming hurricane we had to compress the next few stops and quickly went onto Strokkur geysir and Gullfoss waterfall then to Reykjavik
