Our Trip 2022

Day 1

We flew into Bangkok (BKK) international airport after navigating the COVID restrictions, showing our Thai Passes we met our transport in the foyer where we were wisked off to the Nouvo city hotel.

We were met by reception and ushered to the medic to take our arrival PCR test. Then up to our room to await the results before we were allowed out into the public realm.

Day 2

Waking up today still awaiting the results of our PCR from yesterday exvening.  The results finally arrive at 1100.  We promtly leave the hotel and scout the area to see wahts about and what there is to do.  We get back to the hotel after a two hour sweaty walk and meet up with the other members of the group relaxing in the pool.

Day 3

We took to the streets of Bangkok by bike and explore the backstreets, alleyways and canals on a guided tour. We got away from the tourist areas and into the heart and soul of this lively city. The quietness of these areas often contrasts with the chaos this metropolis is known for. You’re sure to see numerous wats along the way.

Day 4

We left Bangkok at 6:30am sharp as to not  miss the excitement at the surreal Meeklong railway market where the vendors set up their goods along active railway tracks, with fresh produce, fabrics, cooking supplies and more all lined
up a mere few inches from the track’s edge.

Then continued to The Damnoen Saduak floating market is one of the most popular sites to see in Thailand,  some call this area the Venice of the East, where vendors sell their goods from boats and stalls set up along the water’s edge of this unique market.

Day 5

visit to Erawan National Park (approximately 1.5 hours) where you can explore the famous seven-level waterfall or simply swim and relax. The falls are considered the most beautiful in the whole country, with glacial blue waters rushing through the forest into bamboo-shaded pools perfect for a refreshing dip.

Day 6

Transfer to Ayutthaya where was the second capital of Siam after Sukhothai, and it became one of the
most powerful in Asia with over 1 million residents by AD 1700. Trading brought great riches to the city,
and merchant tales tell of golden palaces, elaborate ceremonies, and breathtaking temples. Here,
explore Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, a temple that might offer a glimpse into the future, as it’s home to a
fortune teller. Continue to Wat Phanan Cheoeng, Ayutthaya’s answer to the Taj Mahal

Day 7-16

Waking up today in quarantine due to one of the group testing positive on their day 6 PCR test.  The whole group has to now isolate for 10 days. We are only allowed out for 45 mins a day to the roof terrace.

Day 17

We flew down to Krabi in the south, checked into our hotel (COSI) in Ao Nang took a dip in the pool and investigated the area with the obligitary sunset on the beach with a couple of Chang beers purchased from the local shop.

 

Maya Bay

Day 18

Off on a island boat trip today, calling in on Bamboo Island, Phi Phi Islands, Maya Bay with a couple of snorkeling stop offs.  An amazing day with some beautiful place.

Day 19

Off to Koh PhiPhi Don for 1 night stay, venturing to the viewpoint 2 for sunset, wow, just beautiful.

Day 20

Got the fast boat back to Ao Nang first thing, spent the rest of the day around the pool in the hotel.  Out for dinks at the Yesterday Bar.

Day 21

Straight down to the beach this morning to catch a longtail boat to Railay, we speant the day sitting on the beach and investigating including Bat cave.  Caught the longtail boat back ready to enjoy the sunset on the beach in Ao Nang.

Day 22

We flew back up to Bangkok, catching the 0900 plane from Krabi airport.  Arriving at Bankok airport we caught the train to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, dropped our bags then grabbed some food and drinks in the local area.  Spent time in the revolving view deck on the 83rd floor enjoying our last night in Thailand.
